Note on Wife: Edit Alice NELSON
Mrs. Edith Alice Jarrett was born December 31, 1900, in Manager Junction, Kansas, to the union of Frank and Daisy James-Nelson. Seven children were born to this union. Both of her parents preceded her in death.
Edith A. Nelson was united in marriage to Robert Levi Nichols Jarrett, who preceded her in death. To this union seven children were born. Three sons also preceded her in death: Nelson, John, and Richard.
She was a lifetime member of the YWCA, the National Association of Colored Women, and a member of Joliettes. She taught ceramics and leather crafts.
She leaves to celebrate her homegoing, her children: Thelma F. King of Kansas City, Missouri, Laura E. Williams of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Estella J. Tompkins of Inglewood, California, and Carl E. Jarrett, Sr.; two very dear daughters-in-law: Dorothy Jarrett and Audrey Jarrett, and three sons-in-law: Walter King, the Reverend J. B. Williams, and Alfonso Tompkins; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
